Seoul, Korea, 29 March 2012 -- Linde Korea, a member of The Linde Group, announced that Mr. Rob Hughes has been appointed President of the company effective 1 April 2012, succeeding Mr. Brett Kimber, who been appointed as head of The Linde Group’s South African subsidiary, AFROX.
As the new company President, Mr. Hughes will oversee Linde’s important and growing business in South Korea. The Linde Group has invested around USD 235 million (about KRW 270 billion/ EUR 170 million) in South Korea over the past six years to install industrial gases facilities, contributing to the country’s industrial growth and economic success. Last October, Linde Korea officially opened its second air separation plant in Giheung, which has a total investment value of USD 180 million (about KRW 206 billion/ EUR 130 million).
A graduate in Chemistry and Business Management from Bradford University and Hull University respectively, Mr. Hughes has over 20 years of experience in the industrial gases industry, and has been based in Asia for the past 6 years. He is currently Head of Strategic Marketing for Linde’s business in Greater China, where he has been instrumental in developing and programme managing the company’s growth strategy, Prior to that, he was the Marketing Director at Linde Korea from 2005 to 2008.
